Part Time Direct Care Support Staff

Hope House Foundation is currently accepting applications for part-time direct care support staff. The support staff position is rewarding, challenging, and fun! There are 14 different service teams located in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk. We are looking for professional people willing to go the extra mile with a friendly demeanor and caring heart.

Hope House Foundation is currently hiring part-time employees to work evenings and weekends. Our support staff work directly with the people receiving services assisting with all activities of daily living. Support staff assist individuals with preparing their meals, maintaining their apartments, completing laundry, medical appointments, recreation and socialization, personal hygiene and any other tasks that the individuals may desire assistance. Hours available on weekdays are generally 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. shifts. We have various shifts open on the weekend in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Support staff are matched with a specific location/ team and develop a regular schedule with their supervisor. A one year commitment is preferred. Support staff must be able to work a minimum of two shifts per week plus attend a monthly team meeting. Hope House Foundation is currently accepting applications for a full time coordinator position. The coordinator position is a key leadership position within the organization. We currently have twelve service teams. Each team supports approximately 10 persons with developmental disabilities in their own apartments in the community. Service teams are located in Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. The coordinator is the supervisor of the team and works out of an apartment office at the service location.

Hope House Foundation seeks a highly skilled, conscientious, and positive individual to lead a team and coordinate services. The Coordinator provides orientation, training, and ongoing supervision to approximately 7 full time and 12 part-time employees, ensure persons with disabilities receive competent care & quality services; proven leadership skills & the ability to maintain a supportive, productive, and participatory workplace is required. Key position qualifications: (1) Strong time management & organizational skills; ability to multi-task (2) Effective written & verbal communication skills (3) Experience & maturity to lead others (4) Experience in residential services for adults with developmental disabilities or in a related field (5) Crisis management and behavioral support experience (6) Positive outlook, excited by and willing to lead change Some job tasks: -Provide team orientation to newly hired employees. -Participate in regular supervisory meetings with staff supervised. -Plan and facilitate core team meetings, monthly team meetings, and other group meetings as may occur. -Schedule and coordinate work assignments for team supervised. -Coordinate and implement quality assurance systems regarding routine documentation practices and all record keeping systems. -Plan and document corrective actions for individual staff when standard job requirements are not met. -Act as a role model for staff in teaching and providing assistance to persons served by Hope House Foundation in completing activities associated with a daily living routine; those activities include, but are not limited to cooking, cleaning, laundry, hygiene, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, banking, transportation, obtaining and taking medications as prescribed, relocation, etc. -Provide leadership in the development of individualized services plans. -Provide guidance and behavioral support, develop, or access resources for the development of behavioral support plans/interventions. -Provide on- call support to the team. -Respond to emergency situations and provide crisis intervention as needed. -Ensure compliance with state licensure and Medicaid waiver regulations. -Understand and monitor the service location budget.

The schedule is: Monday through Friday 10a-6p with flexibility required and this is an on call position.
