Get ready for a special house concert to benefit Hope House Foundation featuring Ruth Wyand and The Blues Express.

Long-time Hope House supporter, Rick Mapp, has generously provided this unique venue for what is sure to be a jamming evening of the blues. Join Hope House friends and supporters for this event on Saturday, June 9 from 7 to 10 pm at 715 Shirley Ave., Norfolk. Doors open at 7 pm and music starts at 8 pm.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets include adult beverages and light hors d'oeuvres from Tessa's Creations. Tickets can be purchased in advance below.

"If you like sultry blues on a summer evening in Ghent with your favorite cocktail, you won't want to miss this show " said Rick Mapp. "We've done house concerts before, and they seem to get better each time. This will be our second concert to benefit Hope House."

Ruth Wyand is an award-winning blues fingerpicker, slide player and singer/songwriter from Kill Devil Hills, NC. With influences from juke joints to jazz clubs, she draws on a deep love of American roots music to demonstrate her strengths as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

Ruth was a finalist at the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The only woman to make it to the finals as a soloist out of 270 acts. She has performed at festivals, universities and clubs across the US, UK, Europe, Kuwait and New Zealand.

She owns and operates a music school in Kitty Hawk, NC and is the music director for two non-profit organizations - a Music Program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and a "School of Rock & Blues" for Elementary, Middle and High School students in Dare and Currituck Counties in North Carolina.

Joining forces with guitarist Joe Mapp to form the band "Ruth Wyand and the Blues Express" playing an eclectic mixture of blues, jazz and Americana originals and classics they will take you on a ride down an American music highway.
