Hope House Foundation announces the 2008 Board Member of the Year

Norfolk, Va. – Hope House Foundation is proud to announce their 2008 Board Member of the Year, Peter Leddy. Peter is president of Otto Design & Marketing, an advertising, marketing and public relations firm based in Norfolk. Peter has more than 20 years of experience developing and managing award-winning advertising and marketing campaigns. While at McCaffrey and McCall Advertising in New York, he worked with Mercedes Benz North America to launch the 190 Class, Mercedes’ most successful new model introduction and introduced Air Canada’s first frequent flyer program.

Peter has considerable hospitality and tourism experience. Prior to forming Otto in 2000, he was the vice president and general manager of Barker Campbell Farley and Mansfield, where he managed the Virginia Tourism Account. The brand, “Virginia Is For Lovers,” has been recognized as the 2nd most recognized tourism brand in the United States. Additionally he managed Virginia’s cooperative vacation package with Virginia Wine Country and also developed the marketing strategy for Virginia Beach’s Convention and Visitors Bureau for 10 years. Peter has also worked on tourism with U.S. Virgin Islands and Omni International Hotels. Currently, he assists Gold Key Resorts and Professional Hospitality Resources, Inc., with marketing strategies for time share, hotels and hotel management businesses, which generate more than $65 million in revenue a year.

Peter has a B.S. in International Business from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Peter joined the Hope House Foundation Board of Director in August 2006. Peter has played an active role in Hope House’s marketing committee and has helped us to grow in the area of advertising and public relations. Peter has created and implemented the “I AM A MASTERPIECE” campaign for Hope House. He is surely our Masterpiece and we are so happy to honor him as our Board Member of the Year. Peter was honored at our 30th annual dinner “Celebrating 30 Extraordinary Years” on June 26th.

Hope House Foundation is the only organization in Virginia that supports adults with developmental disabilities exclusively in their own homes.

Hope House Foundation announces the Recipient of the Jeff Miller Award

Norfolk, Va. – Hope House Foundation is proud to announce the recipient of the 2008 “The Jeff Miller Award”, Rick Clarke. Rick is the President of MANCON which is a company that provides logistic, professional, technical and administrative support services to a wide range of Dept. of Defense, federal, state and industry customers. Rick is a leader in business, a devoted father and husband and takes pride in his community.

Rick began his affiliation with Hope House over 5 years ago when he became the first and remains the single largest corporate sponsor of a Hope House Signature Event, the Emerald Gala in Virginia Beach . His generosity helped build community awareness in Virginia Beach by introducing Hope House to individuals who otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn about the organization. Rick believes that everyone has the right to live, work and play in their community.

The Jeff Miller Award was introduced at our 30th annual dinner “Celebrating 30 Extraordinary Years” which took place on June 26th at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. The award is named after Jeff Miller, who served as board president for several years and who brought forward thinking and strong business support to the organization. This award acknowledges community members with leadership, integrity, imagination and optimism which Rick possesses.

OLD POINT NATIONAL BANK AND THE GRANBY THEATER PRESENTS “BLOW YOUR MIND” to benefit Hope House Foundation

Hampton Roads, VA – (July 2008) On Friday, August 1, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Changes Hairstyling, City Spa and Jake’s Place celebrate 25 years of service with “Blow Your Mind” a cutting edge hair and fashion show at the Granby Theater to benefit Hope House Foundation.  Twenty models including models from Fushion Ink will model five different hair and fashion collections.  The collections include: Hollywood Glamour; Classic; 80’s Punk; Avande Garde’ and men’s collection featuring body art from Fushion Ink.  There will be performances by the Granby Theater aerial dancers, hairstyling demo to music and dancing.  Ticket price is $10 and available at Changes Hairstyling, City Spa and Jake’s Place, as well as Hope House Foundation.

Announcing the 24th Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival Award Winners

Norfolk, Va. – Hope House Foundation is pleased to announce the award winners of the 24th Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival, held in Norfolk on May 17-18, 2008. During this festival, Hope House Foundation awarded over $3,000 in prizes thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. Prizes were announced Saturday evening and awards were presented by festival judge Jim Hirschfield. Corporate Sponsors of the festival included Miller Oil Co, TowneBank, Pella Windows, Harris Teeter, The Ghent Business Association, Optima Health, Ferguson Enterprises, and Stihl. The festival's revenue helps with medical and housing subsidy, clothing and household needs, daily living services and various needs of people served by Hope House Foundation. The 2008 Stockley Gardens Fall Arts Festival will be held October 18-19, 2008.
