All of Us

This documentary, produced in 2004 by Chris Dickon of Third Sector Media and Andrew Quicke of the School of Communications and the Arts at Regent University, has won numerous awards. The Aurora Awards recognized “All of Us” with its “Best in Show for Nonprofits” award, and the American Association of Mental Retardation (now known as the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) honored it with its coveted Media Award in 2004.

And small wonder. Because this documentary does far more than showcase one organization; it inspires us to reflect upon how important community inclusion is for all of us.

An interactive CD-ROM that includes excerpts from the documentary as well as other features was later developed with grant support from the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities. The CD was designed to support people with disabilities, their families, policy-makers, business leaders, and service providers as they advocate for community inclusion of people with disabilities. Upon reviewing the finished CD, the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities was so impressed, it decided to blanket the state with them, eventually producing four times as many of the CDs than they’d originally planned.

If you’d like to order a VHS of the full documentary, please click here. You may also contact the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities to request a copy of the CD-ROM. On occasion, “All of Us” is also shown on WHRO Public Television and WCTY.
